Job Description:

SUMMARY

 Provides the vision and strategic direction of the assigned campus and collaboratively leads as a valued member of the local community, as well as Northeast Ohio.  Serves as the chief executive officer of a diverse, inclusive, and equally accessible campus in a multicultural urban environment.  Provides College-wide leadership to multi-campus programs and initiatives.  Serves on the Access, Learning and Success College-wide council.

 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·        Prioritizes student-centered learning and demonstrates a commitment to access, equity, completion and student success

·        Oversees the finances, budgeting, resource generation and planning at the assigned campus

·        Directs the campus’ career and technical education, liberal arts, transfer programs and workforce credit training

·        Fosters and supports an understanding for the role remedial education has in the college environment

·        Collaboratively and successfully works with unions representing the College’s employee groups

·        Demonstrates excellent business acumen and creates positive experiences by advocating for the College to governmental, professional and civic organizations and university partners.

·        Successful experience in Board relations, strategic planning and institutional assessment

·        Fosters a culture of open communication and embraces the diversity of the region in support of an inclusive campus environment

·        Demonstrates an unwavering passion for, appreciation of, and commitment to a continuously improving diverse, inclusive, and accessible learning environment for students, faculty, and staff

·        Demonstrates a commitment to leading and creating innovative support and services to students of color, adult learners, and Pell grant eligible students

·        Works with the entire campus community to develop campus-based student success initiatives

·        Identifies and takes action on strategic opportunities to ensure success and advancement of the College mission

·        Identifies and seeks support from internal and external constituents

·        Represents the campus community with a strong voice to internal and external audiences

·        Anticipates and effectively plans for change through strong collaboration and active communication

·        Utilizes shared decision making with various campus stakeholders to find mutually agreeable resolutions for key campus issues while supporting College-wide protocols

·        Provides a forum for the discussion of ideas and suggestions, and incorporates results into a variety of possible solutions for key campus issues

·        Actively represents the campus at College-wide leadership team meetings while supporting and collaborating in the best interests of the multi-campus institution

·        Promotes a cooperative work environment

·        Fosters an environment that encourages and promotes on-going professional development

·        Develops and maintains a high-functioning network of internal and external relationships

·        Performs other duties as assigned.

·        Possess comprehensive knowledge of higher education theories, concepts and practices with the ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

·        Possess understanding of a large urban educational environment

·        Possess current understanding of the unique strengths and challenges facing community colleges, and an appreciation for its modern-day students

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

·        The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; 

·        The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;

·        Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type.  However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;

·        Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.

 


Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

              

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

·        Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution

·        Minimum of ten years of demonstrated experience including:

o   Teaching in higher education

o   Executive-level leadership and administration

o   Successfully meeting accreditation and/or compliance standards

o   Developing and managing budgets

o   Effectively developing strategies and making decisions that have significant, broad implications on the management and operations of a College division (or equivalent business area)

o   Effectiveness requiring dynamic and analytical problem solving methods in a variety of situations

o   Working as part of a successful executive team in a large, multi-campus educational institution

  • Fundraising and/or grant writing and grant administration
